made equivalent to a Belgian qualification) to the appropriate government

Please note: If you are in possession of a higher education degree obtained abroad and you are applying for a Master course, you may similarly be requested to provide an attest of equivalence for your secondary school diploma, if the faculty, after checking your application, decide to admit you to a Bachelor study year.
If you have no secondary school diploma or if your secondary school diploma is not recognised as being equivalent to a Belgian one, it is possible to take an university admission exam.

If you are a non-EU student but you match one of the assimilation criteria, you will be categorized as an european student in all matters involving admission and registration (tuition fees, admissions requirements, deadlines...).
Chinese students who achieved some parts of their higher education in China and who wish to pursue higher education in Belgium must submit the APS procedure before applying for the VISA.
