Presentation

The Master in Multilingual Communication enables students to acquire and develop knowledge, skills, and know-how that can be successfully implemented in a multilingual and intercultural working environment where communication is key. The aim of the course is to make students proficient in using the concepts (institutions, culture, society) and practices relevant to international communication (discourse, argumentation, negotiation).

Access conditions

Programme

All students have advanced English courses (15 credits), communication courses (20 credits), advanced courses in a second language (French as a foreign language, Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian, or Russian – 15 credits), and beginner courses in a third language (German, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, or Russian – 10 credits).

Students must choose one focus (30 credits)

  • Focus on Human Resources: this programme develops skills that can be used in human resource management and in a multilingual environment;

  • Focus on International Relations: this programme provides a solid background in international institutions and current issues in international relations;

  • Focus on Multiculturalism: this programme is dedicated to identity and intercultural dialogue, including the study of cultures, religions, languages, gender, and public space.

In addition to courses on foreign languages, communication, and subjects related to international working environments, the programme includes a research component, with a preparatory research paper (5 credits) and a final research paper (25 credits). A work placement (10 credits), completed either in a private company or in any other type of organisation (cultural, administrative, social, etc.) gives students an opportunity to combine field experience and applied research, and prepare for their future careers.
