Presentation

The Master in Speech and Language Therapy is a specialised course which trains participants to work in the fields of speech therapy and orthophony. Speech therapists are consulted for all conditions which are broadly linked to language dysfunction in children, adults or older people. They make a contribution to clinical examination and diagnosis, usually within a multi-disciplinary framework, and are involved in the design and implementation of treatment for rehabilitation, support, remedial activities or readaptation. Their involvement goes beyond the strict field of understanding and producing spoken and written language and also covers difficulties with early communication, voice problems, phonation, swallowing, problem-solving, education, support and assistance for people with hearing difficulties, motor disabilities or significant cognitive impairment.

The Master's course in Speech and Language Therapy is co-organised and co-managed by the ULB and the UCL (Université Catholique de Louvain), through the involvement of the Faculties of Psychology and Education Sciences and Medicine in both universities. The body of teaching staff includes teachers who are practising therapists and researchers and who are internationally renowned in their specialist area.
