EU research programmes at ULB

With its location at the heart of Europe, ULB is a major player in the European higher education and European research areas, taking part in many research projects funded by the EU.

To date, 30 current or former ULB researchers have been awarded grants by the highly selective European Research Council (ERC): 16 Starting Grants, 6 Consolidator Grants, and 8 Advanced Grants.

It also receives many researchers supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie programme.

In addition, ULB coordinates or takes part in a number of cooperative programmes funded as part of the European Union’s framework programmes (Horizon 2020, FP7, etc.).

Lastly, the University receives funding through the ERDF, one of the EU’s structural funds.

And let's not forget...

On top of these programmes, ULB researchers are active in other Europe-wide programmes as coordinators, research project partners, or experts: research infrastructure programme, Euratom, European Space Agency (ESA), Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme, ESPON, research programmes led by the Directorate-General for Home Affairs and the Directorate-General for Justice, etc.

ULB is also very active in European programme Erasmus+, which involves both teaching and research activities.
