Accepted languages

The following languages are accepted for documents and identity documents: French, German, Dutch, English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. Documents issued in any other language must be translated by a sworn translator.

Required documents - 1st cycle

As a general rule, the following documents will be required for admission to a first-cycle programme:

  • An identity photo (format W = 3 cm x H = 4 cm, preferred file type = JPG, PDF, TIFF or RTF)

  • A copy of your identity card (front and back) or passport

  • Secondary education diploma
    If the secondary education diploma was obtained abroad, an equivalence will be required.
    In this case, an application for equivalence must be submitted to the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. Pending the equivalence decision, it will be possible to continue the enrolment application process by signing a provisional enrolment agreement.

You did not recently complete your secondary education

Additional documents will be required in order to establish your previous academic background:

  • Proof of academic activities (official transcripts with the institution’s stamp and signature, diploma, etc.)
  • Proof of non-academic activities for the last 5 years, including the start and end dates of each activity (employment certificates, training certificates, etc.). Employment contracts are not accepted.
  • A certificate confirming the absence of outstanding debts issued by the higher education institution (universities, colleges, etc.) for students enrolled in an institution of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles in Belgium.

Documents that may be requested by the jury

  • Motivation letter (if requested by the jury)

  • Course descriptions (if requested by the jury)

Additional documents for non-European Union students

  • If you hold a foreign upper secondary education diploma other than the European School Baccalaureate or the International Baccalaureate of Geneva, you will need to provide an equivalence certificate.

  • If you wish to enrol in the first year of a Bachelor’s programme or if the faculty jury considers that you should be admitted into a first-cycle year, you must also provide the transcript of grades from your final year of secondary education.

  • If you request to be considered as an assimilated student: documents proving assimilation status depending on the type of assimilation criterion.

Required documents - 2nd cycle

As a general rule, the following documents will be required for admission to a second-cycle programme:

  • An identity photo (format W = 3 cm x H = 4 cm, preferred file type = JPG, PDF, TIFF or RTF)

  • A copy of your identity card (front and back) or passport

  • Higher education diploma(s) obtained + official transcripts with the institution’s stamp and signature

  • The secondary education diploma if it was obtained within the last 5 years, as well as proof of non-degree academic activities and non-academic activities for the last 5 years including the start and end dates of each activity (employment certificates, training certificates, etc.). Employment contracts are not accepted.

  • A certificate confirming the absence of outstanding debts issued by the higher education institution (universities, colleges, etc.) previously attended, for students enrolled in an institution of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles in Belgium

Master of Education

French language proficiency:

If you do not hold a diploma obtained in the French Community of Belgium and wish to enrol in a Master of Education programme, you will need to provide proof of French language proficiency according to the procedures determined by the faculty jury.

Additional documents for non-European Union students

  • If you request to be considered as an assimilated student: documents proving assimilation status depending on the type of assimilation criterion.

Required documents - 3rd cycle

As a general rule, the following documents will be required for admission to a third-cycle programme:

  • An identity photo (format W = 3 cm x H = 4 cm, preferred file type = JPG, PDF, TIFF or RTF)

  • A copy of your identity card (front and back) or passport

  • Higher education diploma(s) obtained + official transcripts with the institution’s stamp and signature

  • Proof of non-degree academic activities and non-academic activities for the last 5 years including the start and end dates of each activity (employment certificates, training certificates, etc.)

  • Completed and signed "Supervisor agreement" document.
     
  • Research project including a provisional title, a presentation highlighting its originality compared to the current state of the art, and a work plan
     
  • Full CV
     
  • Motivation letter (optional)
     
  • Letters of recommendation (optional)

Declaration on honour

Declarations on honour are only accepted for activities that cannot be supported by official certificates: therefore, declarations on honour cannot be accepted for activities relating, for example, to studies, employment or income.
