Course content
Representations of finite groups. Crystallographic groups. Lie algebras: elementary theory and representations. Wigner-Eckart theorem. SU(3) - The eightfold way. Cartan Classification.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
Appreciate importance and usefulness of group theory in physics. Continuation of first course MATH-F-314 on the subject.
