Presentation

This bachelor's degree provides students with a comprehensive grounding in management and science, as well as general culture and language courses. It also aims to prepare students for master's-level studies in management sciences. This programme will enable students to understand all aspects of business organisation.

The programme consists of a broad core curriculum, supplemented by optional courses grouped into “minors”. The minors allow students to gradually begin their specialisation.

This translates into advanced training in quantitative sciences and methods (chemistry, physics, mathematics and statistics), the study of two foreign languages and humanities courses focused on management and economics, psychology and management; private, commercial and tax law; economic history and geography; sociology and marketing. The end of the programme introduces several management disciplines: financial theory, human resources management, management control, etc. This rigorous and varied programme allows students to subsequently specialise in many areas of management.

Students may choose a minor:

The Management minor strengthens students' knowledge of management, communication and technology in order to prepare them for master's degrees in Management Engineering and Management Science.

The Economics minor introduces students to a wide range of economic issues and provides them with the concepts they need to pursue a Master's degree in Economics with a focus on Business Economics. In addition, the Economics minor complements the programme, allowing students to pursue a Master's degree in Economics with a focus on Economic Governance and Public Policy in Europe.

The minor in Economics and Management introduces students to a wide range of economic issues relevant to understanding the business world, preparing them for master's degrees in Management Engineering, Management Science and Business Economics.

The teaching methods advocated by Ernest Solvay have earned the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management its reputation. The quality of its programmes is based on a demanding curriculum that combines theory and practice. Students therefore benefit from a high-quality scientific background, rigorous training in economics and management, numerous opportunities for mobility and language learning.

The programmes are constantly being adapted to reflect developments in the various disciplines of economics and management. Recently adapted to changes in the economic world, the teaching methods are based in particular on case studies, seminars and group work. This combination maximises opportunities for interaction between students and teaching staff. The curricula aim to stimulate entrepreneurial spirit, analytical skills, decision-making, listening to others, teamwork and openness to the world.

Support for success is put in place from the start of the programme to enable students, on a voluntary basis, to fill any gaps in their knowledge

This versatile programme combines theory and practice and provides students with a solid academic foundation in management, enabling them to easily transition into the management environment. The Management Engineering programme combines the exact sciences (chemistry, physics, mathematics) with management aspects. It is complemented by courses in law, humanities, statistics and economics, as well as a solid foundation in English and Dutch.
