Course content
The course will cover the main areas of EU competition law in the broad sense (Articles 101 and 102 TFEU, procedure, merger control, and State aid), as well as related recent regulatory developments, notably the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR).
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
This course aims to provide students with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of EU competition law in its various dimensions. It examines the subject from both a historical and evolutionary perspective, with particular emphasis on its interdisciplinary aspects—especially its links with economics—and on recent developments. The theoretical framework is illustrated through concrete examples drawn from practice. Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired the essential foundations needed either to pursue further specialisation in competition law or to take their first professional steps in the field.
Teaching methods and learning activities
Primarily lecture-based teaching, with particular emphasis on interactivity and student participation, notably through case studies and, depending on the number of students enrolled, possible student oral presentations throughout the semester.
