To give you a chance to use all the tools you learned in macro, micro, finance, regulation, stats and econometrics to analsyse specific companies or countries.

The course also aims at teaching you key written and oral communications skills you will need in the business and policy world

The class is based on group work.

Readings matching papers to write and these need to be identified by students
I will also provide overview PPTs and suggestions as we go along in the lectures

Contribution to the teaching profile

This class builds on everything you have learned in economics during your MA education and is intended to prepare you to use those skills in very applied economics notes similar to those many of you will have to work on as part of your first job as an economist in finance, the big 4, consulting firms or international organizations.

These are the main competencies aimed at :

  • Analytical skills to take on conceptual or real life situations
  • Problem solving perspective in a wide range of topics with realistic economic and financial tools
  • Ability to communicate diagnostics and recommendations on typical policy issues
