Course content

An in-depth study of the major sites and discoveries of the Western European Iron Age. The Iron Age material culture is analysed in both a diachronic and a synchronic perspective. Special focus on Celtic art.

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

To present the Western European Iron Age cultures (Celtic, Germanic, Iberian and (Proto-)Etruscan, as well as their interrelations, first amongst each other, then with the Mediterranean (the Greek and Phoenician colonies) (from 800 to 50 BC)
