Course content

The content may vary from year to year as it is based on the students' internship experiences. Classically, the following are considered: oral language disorders, written language disorders, numerical disorders; eating and swallowing disorders; autism spectrum disorders; alternative and augmentative methods of communication; the non-verbal aspects of communication; behavioral disorders in patients; the role of music in speech therapy; multilingualism and cultural diversity; among others

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

teach students to formalize, based on a concrete situation

teach students to make the links between practice and theory

teach students to communicate an innovative message, in a structured way

teach students to ask questions about a presentation they are receiving

teach students to explore a subject in greater depth following questions received during their presentation

Prerequisites and Corequisites

Teaching methods and learning activities

The students choose a presentation subject per group and prepare a presentation
During a session determined at the beginning of the year, they give their presentation to the whole audience
A group of students is designated in the audience to prepare questions
The discussion is then open to the whole audience

Contribution to the teaching profile

This course comes in the last year of study, a few months before graduation.

Its objective is the following: the students are led, on the basis of their internship experiences, to take the role of tutor, and to share with the students of the audience their new experiences, their reflections. They should also reflect on the aspects of the speech therapist's code of ethics that are involved in the experiences they share.
