We see the history of the medieval Middle East in two parts. First part: pre-Islamic Arabia, the biography of Muhammad, the birth of the Muslim state and its political structure, the orthodox caliphs, the Umayyad and Abbasid dynasties, the history of Muslim Spain and Maghreb until the 11th century. Second part: the Fatimids, the Seljuks, the impact of the Crusades, the Ayyubids, arrival of the Mongols, the Mamluks; in North Africa, we see the Almoravid and Almohads dynasties.
