Life, works, and intellectuel and methodological contribution of Machiavelli, Hobbes, Montesquieu, Rousseau, de Tocqueville and Marx.

Cognitive competences:Knowledge of classic authors and their contribution to modern political thought.Knowledge of a number of classic texts of political thought.Attitudinal competences:Capacity to situate an author and his works in their historical and intellectual contextsCapacity to contextualise and historicize contemporary political concepts
