Course content

  • The course tackles different topics (such as introduction, everyday activities, shopping, restaurant, travel, basic public institutions…). Learning is contextualized by original or edited texts (reading or listening comprehension). Vocabulary and basic grammatical structures are trained, consolidated and extended via written and oral exercises (drills, role-plays, interviews, conversations).

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

Reading comprehension : • Can read short simple texts. • Can find specific and expected information in everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, timetables etc. • Can understand short simple personal letters. Listening comprehension : • Can understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping etc.). • Can catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements. Speaking : • Can use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in simple terms his/her family and other people, living conditions, his/her present or most recent activity. • Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities. Can handle very short and usual exchanges on very familiar topics. Writing : • Can write short, simple messages (for example postcards) or fill in very simple forms.
