Course content

Reading and commentary of various texts belonging to representative genres that takes into account both the linguistic difficuties (grapho-phonetic, morphological, syntactical) and their aesthetic aspects.

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

Bring students in direct contact with mediaeval French texts, and draw attention to the linguistic and formal diversity of mediaeval language and literature. By course end, student will have acquired a mastery of mediaeval language sufficient to correctly analyze and translate texts.

Ex-cathedra lecture.
