Learning French at ULB

ULB is a multicultural, French-speaking university located at the heart of Europe. The majority of classes are taught in French and thus we place a great deal of importance on our “French as a foreign language” classes. These classes are available to non French-speaking students, whether they enrol directly at the ULB or are here as part of an Erasmus exchange programme, so they can improve their language skills whilst studying for their degree. To this end, the ULB offers several courses of French as a foreign language according to the student’s level. Students sit a compulsory level test prior to each course; this enables us to determine the course that will best meet the students’ language needs.  ULB Langues offers both pre-sessional (intensive summer) courses and courses throughout the year. Interested ?  Select the course you would like to attend according to your profile.

Organised between mid-August and early September, the summer classes enable future students whose first language is not French to prepare for the academic year with general French as a foreign language classes (listening and reading comprehension, writing skills and pronunciation). The classes are organised in 4-hours intensive sessions 5 days a week and are aimed at students who have an Intermediate (A2) to Advanced (C1) as a result of our French level tests.  If you think you have a lower level, please check the section for “Beginners”.
