Course content

Various questions concerning the very status of psychology – a science at the border between the sciences of nature and the social sciences - are examined in the light of works by Dilthey, Bergson, Freud, Husserl, Binswanger, Minkowski, E. Straus, Merleau-Ponty, Ricoeur and other thinkers connected with phenomenology and hermeneutics.

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

To make the students aware of the importance of the old, persistent and major relations between philosophy and psychology since the Greeks until today. To show the benefits that each of these disciplines can draw from its interest for the other.

Teaching methods and learning activities

a) Introduction to the topic by the method of ex cathedra lectures. b) Work on texts. Students are requested to make oral presentations. Attendance is therefore mandatory.
