Course content

  • Diets, undernourishment and various forms of malnutrition in the world

  • Famines

  • International food aid

  • Policies to address undernourishment

  • Food regimes, food movements and food sovereignty

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

Students should be able to:

  • understand the concepts and the methods used to analyze food situations

  • comprehend the world state of food, of undernourishment and of various forms of malnutrition; understand the past evolution of this situation and future perspectives

  • get acquainted with methods used to design, implement and evaluate food projects, programs and policies, in reference to Consumer Economics and to Human Rights.

Lectures, readings, discussions, presentations by students, conferences by guest lecturers.

  • Réfléchir de façon pragmatique sur des politiques de développement

  • Réfléchir de façon critique aux pratiques de coopération internationale
