Course content

Study of the common characteristics of statistical software packages and specific characteristics of some of them selected for their quality or professional use. In the practice sessions, the students have to implement statistical studies using the packages learned, including statistical interpretation of the results.

This course provides an illustration of the statistical methods seen in other courses (experimental planning, regression, multivariate statistics) using several software packages.

Written report

Personal project to be defended before a jury on the basis of a written report. The statistical problem should be complex enough, use one or several statistical packages. Exploratory (graphical), experimental (analysis of variance or covariance) and not experimental (regression, principal components, ...) methods should be used.

Mark calculation method (including weighting of intermediary marks)

The report and the presentation are the only exam activities. A detailed distribution of the quotation on several aspects (style, contents) is discussed in class (and available in the course material on line)
