Course content

It will be a traineeship in imaging (48h in e.g. 2x3 working days within 2 weeks) in which the student will participate one or several imaging experiments and write a complete reporting of this traineeship

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

Students will spend time in an imaging laboratory (microscopy or pre-clinical in vivo imaging). They will attend or participate imaging experiments (depending on the imaging method(s) used in the laboratory they will come to). This practical approach will let them learn the technical specificities and constraints of the application of those imaging methods in a biomedical research context.

Prerequisites and Corequisites

Required and Corequired knowledge and skills

Some basic knowledge in imaging: types of microscopy methods (fluorescence, electron...), types of in vivo imaging methods (ionizing, non-ionizing)

Teaching methods and learning activities

Students will spend time in an imaging laboratory (microscopy or pre-clinical in vivo imaging). They will attend or participate imaging experiments (depending on the imaging method(s) used in the laboratory they will come to).

Contribution to the teaching profile

This teaching unit contributes in the learning of current pre-clinical and clinical imaging techniques.

Other information

Additional information

According to time schedules, students will participate already existing practical works in microscopy laboratories on the campus of Gosselies + interning in pre-clinical imaging laboratories at the center for microscopy and molecular imaging (CMMI).
