ORAL EXAMINATIONS (100% of the final grade, including 20% for English proficiency)

Oral examination with Dr. Riach to assess students' understanding of literary history, the works from the reading list, and their ability to understand the key cultural, historical, and geographical keywords of the period.

1) Literary History (Question A): students answer one of the questions from a set list.

2) Literary Interpretation (Question B): students interpret a text from the reading list. Note that interpretations do not appear in full on the slides, which makes regular class attendance highly recommended.

3) Cultural literacy (Question C): students define a keyword – a cultural, historical, or geographical term or a chronological landmark – chosen from a set list.
