Course content
If the goal of science is to deepen our understanding of the world, the aim of scientific communication is to share this knowledge with both peers and the wider public. But how can this be effectively accomplished? In this course, we will explore various dimensions of scientific communication, from the technical skills needed for writing articles and research grants to the strategies behind delivering compelling oral presentations. Through practical exercise and collaborative projects, students will refine their communication abilities, laying the groundwork for their development as independent researchers.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
By the end of the course, students will have gained the necessary skills to write a cutting-edge research article, mastering each of its components (title, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion/conclusion, figures) and to write research grants. They will also learn to adapt their communication style based on the audience for both oral and poster presentations. Additionally, students will deepen their understanding of the challenges and considerations involved in scientific communication throughout the publishing process.
