Linguistique textuelle appliquée: lecture et écriture en italien

This course provides an introduction to textual linguistics applied to reading and writing in Italian. Through the study of a variety of literary and non-literary texts, students will learn to analyse their structure, style, and linguistic features. The course also aims to strengthen students’ reading comprehension, writing, and textual analysis skills, both orally and in writing.

From a theoretical perspective, the course examines different text types—descriptive, narrative, expository, argumentative, and prescriptive—with regard to their distinctive structural, linguistic, and content-related features. From a practical perspective, students will read and analyse texts in Italian and produce their own texts based on the models studied in class, including short stories, summaries, reports, newspaper articles, and dictionary or encyclopaedia entries. Oral skills will also be developed through the preparation of reports, presentations, debates, and other activities.

Required and Corequired knowledge and skills

This course is intended for students who have attained level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) across the different language skills.
