Course content
The course aims to deepen students’ knowledge and develop their expressive resources in both spoken and written language. The following grammar topics will be studied in greater depth: sequence of tenses, coordinating and subordinating conjunctions, implicit subordinate clauses, and reported speech. Literary and journalistic texts covering a variety of topics will be studied in class.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
Students will develop an excellent command of Italian in both oral and written communication. They will use the language accurately and precisely in terms of intonation and pronunciation, as well as its complex morphosyntactic structures. They will be able to understand and use vocabulary appropriate to personal and professional contexts and current affairs in general. They will also be able to deal with unfamiliar situations, express their point of view, engage in discussions, persuade others, and evaluate situations and information. Overall, by the end of the term, students will have reached level B2.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in all five skills: reading, writing, speaking, listening and interaction.

A written essay on the chosen topic (five pages, Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced), to be submitted after the presentation.

An in-class presentation based on one article, accompanied by a short video and three discussion points for consideration in class. Each presentation, including the discussion, must last one hour.
