ERC research projects
European Research Council grants
ERC grants are high-profile grants awarded by the European Research Council to single researchers in order to fund a fundamental research project of their choosing.
The European Research Council (ERC) has three core grant schemes:
- ERC Starting Grant, for scientists at the beginning of their career;
- ERC Consolidator Grant, for scientists who want to establish a research team and develop a success career;
- et les ERC Advanced Grant, for experienced scientists who want to pursue a ground-breaking, high-risk project.
ULB is home to 41 current or former ERC grant laureates:

ForEFrontULB is also involved in the following projects:
- CROSSROAD: Olivier Gosselain (Centre d'Anthropologie culturelle, Faculty of Philosophy and Social sciences) is associated to this project, conducted by the 'University of East Anglia. The project aims to study the 'empires' of West Africa between 1200 and 1850 AD;
- KONGOKING: Pierre De Mare t(Centre d'Anthropologie culturelle, Faculty of Philosophy and Social sciences) is associated to this project, conducted by University of Ghent. The research will focus on the origins, early history and development of the Kongo kingdom, from onwards 1500.
