Contenu du cours

Survey methods, including health examination surveys.

Objectifs (et/ou acquis d'apprentissages spécifiques)

  • To provide students with a theoretical framework (methodology) and tools (methods)
  • To develop their skills in choosing research methods
  • To develop an integrated approach to other learning activities (qualitative and quantitative methods)
  • To master the basic techniques of the hypothetical-deductive approach
  • To develop different techniques for the elaboration of a research work
  • To apply ethical rules to research protocol
  • To develop quality process in carrying out data collection, including health examination surveys.

Méthodes d'enseignement et activités d'apprentissages

On site and via Teams platform: state of the art courses, practical applications (questionnaire development, consent form writing, sampling plan…).

Informations complémentaires

Use of artificial intelligence:

  • Students are asked to always disclose the use of AI tools (ChatGPT®, Grammarly®, Deepl®…) and specify the exact tasks for which they were used.
    • Using AI to write entire sections of the report (multiple sentences) including literature references is prohibited.
    • Unauthorized use will be identified based on typical AI writing patterns, fabricated references, and verification of the student’s knowledge during the oral defence.
    • If such use is detected, the grade is “0”. The MPHM jury and the ESP dean will be informed. In cases of recurrence or multiple infractions, a disciplinary procedure is initiated.
  • Plagiarism, detected by university approved software, is forbidden. The penalty is the same as above.

Evaluation

Méthode(s) d'évaluation

  • Travail de groupe

Travail de groupe

  • Final group work will focus on developing a research protocol (including appendices such as a questionnaire, consent form…). The final report will be submitted during the January exam session.

Construction de la note (en ce compris, la pondération des notes partielles)

When the course unit is not validated at the first session (<10/20), some parts of the protocol (written report) on another topic will be asked to retake at the second session.
