This is a research-based class, building from fieldwork on a given Brussels' neighbourhood. Students are divided into groups of about 6, each group being assigned a different neighbourhood to work on.
Objectifs (et/ou acquis d'apprentissages spécifiques)
The goal of this class is to make you familiar with different research methods in the social sciences that are used to analyse the urban environment; its structures and processes. In particular, you will get a taste of the following research methods: secondary statistical data analysis and mapping, urban semiotics, ethnography, (expert) interviewing, and mapping actors.
