Contenu du cours

The Advanced Master in Interdisciplinary EU Studies benefits from a memorandum of understanding with the Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies (GSAPS) at the University of Waseda (Tokyo, Japan), which includes an annual student exchange program. This will allow two students of the IEE’s Advanced Master to choose the Mobility option and spend the Spring term (late March to late August) at Waseda University in Tokyo.

Students interested in the mobility to Waseda are required to notify their interest to the coordinator by September 24, 2025. To this end, they should submit to the coordinator, Chloé Brière (chloe.briere@ulb.be), a motivation letter, a writing sample in English (master's thesis, essay, etc.), together with previous academic records.

Students will be notified about the results of the internal selection by September 29, and will be invited to confirm their interest within the day. They will then have the possibility to apply for ULB funding that may cover some of the expenses incurred by the mobility. Please note that the availability of financial support cannot be guaranteed by the University or the Institute.

Once their participation is confirmed, the students selected will have to comply with the procedures applicable at Waseda University, and they will have to submit their application to Waseda University. Please note that the online application will be closed on 15 November at 23:59 (Japan time). In the process, selected students will be required to upload all the documents mentioned below.

Objectifs (et/ou acquis d'apprentissages spécifiques)

The objective of the mobility is to offer students to the chance to discover a new academic environment, and explore different perspectives on regional integration, while reinforcing their writing and speaking skills in English.

Méthodes d'enseignement et activités d'apprentissages

The teaching methods and modalities are defined in accordance with the rules and procedures of the University of Waseda.

Students will have to sign a learning agreement prior to their departure, and they will be required to follow at least one substantive course and participate in one research seminar (Zemi) while in Tokyo. These courses will correspond to 15 ECTS credits, and any change in the course registration will have to be communicated to the Students' Secretary Mrs Van den Broeck.
