Contenu du cours
This course is in collaboration with Saathaye College of the university of Mumbai (India).
With the aim of covering theoretical and practical aspects on heritage listing and management as well as tourism, the course combines theoretical insights, examples from different countries with a participant role play.
The students are introduced to different cultural practices through lectures by different experts, as well as through experiencing and practising cultural interaction with the help of a role play. Both approaches are complementary and will provide the students with a deeper insight into the logics and mechanisms behind the processes
Objectifs (et/ou acquis d'apprentissages spécifiques)
The course aims at developing cross-cultural exchange and understanding between students of the ULB and the university of Mumbai (MU). Moreover, it wishes to establish collaborations and interactions between the future tourism and heritage stakeholders of both countries.
The core idea is to compare and to understand the various approaches of heritage and tourism in both countries. What are the logics behind both heritage and tourism choices and uses? How to explain cultural similarities or differences?
