Methods in Epidemiology

* Basics in epidemiological methods: general overview; study designs; descriptive indicators; measures of association; standardization; attributable fraction of the risk.

* Effect modification, confounding and stratified analysis; biases and validity; causality criteria.

To understand, apply and appraise methods used in epidemiology.

Alternating lectures, practices (included in lectures and two specific sessions), and students’ presentations.

Some parts of lectures will be provided online (pre-recorded lessons).

* Intermediate exercises between two sessions.

* One written exam (around 3 hours).

The course mark is computed with 5% for the continuous evaluation (intermediate exercises) and 95% for the written exam.

When the first session course mark is <10/20, points coming from the intermediate exercises will be reported at the 2^nd session. The 2^nd session written exam will still be 95% of the mark.
